Controversial statue of 'haaf-netter' fisherman in Scottish Border town to be scrapped and melted down - after years of ridicule and vandalism

The £40,000 monument, built to honour the men who waded into the Solway Firth to catch fish with handheld nets, faces being melted down, much to the disapproval of artist Pail Cowan.
